There has been an increase in the robbery incidents in Jalandhar in the recent days, has raised concerns. In the latest case, an attempted robbery was reported at Vipan Jewellers, where two masked men entered the shop pretending to be customers.
According to shop owner Vipan Verma, the two youths asked to see bracelets. After being shown a few items, the jeweller grew suspicious and asked them to return the next day to see more jewellery. At this point, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and threatened Verma’s wife, warning her not to raise an alarm.
Sensing danger, Vipan Verma bravely began shouting, which created panic inside the shop. Due to the commotion, the robbers fled the spot on foot without stealing anything.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the shop. The jeweller immediately informed the police. A police team reached the spot and started an investigation. Officials said the victim’s statement is being recorded and a case will be registered based on it.
Police are now examining CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused.
