Toor said he felt relieved when the newborn began crying, confirming that both the mother and baby were safe.

A Sikh taxi driver in Calgary is being praised for his quick thinking after helping deliver a baby during a late-night emergency trip to the hospital.
Hardeep Singh Toor was sent on what he thought was a routine urgent ride. However, when he reached the pickup location, he found that the woman passenger was in active labour.
Despite harsh weather conditions, with temperatures dropping to around –23°C and icy roads, Toor drove carefully but swiftly towards the Peter Lougheed Centre. Just a few blocks from the hospital, the woman gave birth in the back seat of the taxi.
Toor said he felt relieved when the newborn began crying, confirming that both the mother and baby were safe.
After reaching the hospital, he immediately informed medical staff, who took over the care. The baby’s father thanked Toor for his calm and timely assistance.
Hospital officials later confirmed that the baby girl was healthy, and both mother and child were doing well.
