Crime Surges in Mohali in 2025: 32 Murders, Over 500 Vehicle thefts reported

Having a look at the official records, there are 32 murders reported in just one year (2025). For these 59 accused were arrested.

Mohali has seen much turbulence in the year 2025. As the year has ended, the official data reveals that the crime rate in the city has seen a drastic increase. From snatching cases to high profile murders, there has been much violence reported in 2025.

Having a look at the official records, there are 32 murders reported in just one year (2025). For these 59 accused were arrested. Among all the cases, four cases remain unresolved. This has raised concerns over detection rates. 

Officials claim that within a year, 165 snatching cases were reported. This has raised security concerns in the society.  Police claim that 160 snatchers have already been arrested.

Adding to it, 65 cars and 307 two-wheeler vehicles were stolen. Moreover, 12 firing incidents were reported.

High Profile Cases

The most high profile case was the murder of Kabaddi Promoter Rana Balachauria and Former AAG’s wife. 

The Punjab and Haryana high court even summoned the DGP over the probe, underscoring its gravity. Balachauria was shot dead while his aide was injured, a case that dominated headlines for months.

Not just this, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia was arrested in a disproportionate assets case.

Mohali Police hold on Punjab’s Anti Drug Campaign

The Punjab State Govt. has initiated an anti-drug campaign named ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh.’ Reportedly, the police have arrested 63 smugglers and 729 drug addicts under this.

Among all these, many addicts as well were sent to the rehabilitation centers.
