Chaos broke out near Pathankot Chowk in Jalandhar on Tuesday after a tourist bus traveling from Jammu to Delhi broke down in the middle of the road, leading to a commotion among passengers and traffic disruption in the area.
According to reports, the bus developed a technical fault near Pathankot Chowk after its axle broke, forcing it to stop suddenly on the busy road. The unexpected halt angered several passengers, and some allegedly vandalised the bus by breaking its windows. The bus driver was also reportedly manhandled.
The incident caused long traffic jams, bringing vehicle movement to a standstill for some time.
Following the incident, police teams rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control, and shifted the bus driver to a safe location. The damaged bus was later removed from the road with the help of a crane, after which traffic movement gradually returned to normal.
Police officials said an investigation has been launched to identify those involved in vandalism and assault. Legal action will be taken against the responsible individuals. Authorities confirmed that the situation is now calm and traffic is flowing smoothly.
