Punjab Police Conduct 2,760 Raids on Day 1 of Operation Prahaar-2, 1,250 Arrested

During the active ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ initiativeaimed at establishing Punjab as a gangster-free state under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police conducted 2760 raids on Monday at sites associated with wanted offenders on the first day of ‘Operation Prahaar-2’.

Significantly intensifying the existing “Gangstran Te Vaar” initiative, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Sunday initiated a 72-hour “Operation Prahaar-2” aimed at nabbing the wanted criminals. Senior officials from Punjab Police Headquarters have directly gone to various police districts to oversee the operation.

Providing information, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla stated that during Operation Prahaar-2, over 2,000 police teams with approximately 12,000 personnel have carried out raids at sites associated with wanted criminals throughout Punjab.

Disclosing the results from Day 1 of Operation Prahaar-2, the Special DGP mentioned that 1,895 individuals were apprehended, with 1,250 arrests made, which included 40 proclaimed offenders and 298 preventive detentions. In addition to this, 666 individuals were confirmed and freed after interrogation.

Police teams have persistently pursued their anti-drug initiative “Yudh Nashian Virudh” for the 345th day, apprehending 72 drug traffickers on Monday and seizing 26.4 kg of heroin, 772 intoxicating tablets/capsules, and Rs 12.17 lakhs indrug money from them.

As a result, the total count of drug smugglers apprehended has climbed to 48,331 in only 345 days. In relation to de-addiction efforts, the Punjab Police has persuaded 21 individuals to seek de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
