Harjit Singh Dhami, the President of SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee) forcibly retires Golden Temple’s head Granthi Giani Raghbir Singh who as well is former Jathedar of the Akal Takht. Such decision was taken with immediate effect during a special meeting held on Thursday at its headquarters.

The meeting was held after Giani Raghbir Singh failed to submit written evidence to support his corruption allegations against SGPC and SAD. He made these allegations while addressing media persons in Jalandhar on February 18.

Dhami affirmed the decision, stating that numerous serious accusations were raised against Giani Raghbir Singh and that the executive reached their conclusion after careful discussions.

He claimed that SGPC had not obtained any adequate reply or proof from Singh even after the deadline had expired. He stated that Singh’s behavior had harmed the reputation of the top Sikh organization and demonstrated a lack of respect for regulations.

While responding to the decision, Giani Raghbir Singh mentioned that this has not surprised him in any ways as he already expected this. He claimed that seeds of the face-off between him and SGPC were sown when he had delivered a verdict against SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal on December 22, 2024.
