Ex-CM Charanjit Singh Channi has called for an investigation into the acquisition of numerous handheld pixel devices utilized for enrollment in the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana. He claimed that these devices, worth crores of rupees, were utilized by AAP party volunteers to provide appointment slips, but were stopped after a month.
“Someone in the government must take responsibility for the misuse of public funds,” he stated.
A high-ranking official rejected the health department’s participation, claiming the devices came from the sports department and were phased out because they were not useful.
The government has removed volunteers organizing beneficiaries, raising issues of potential political bias, and has now permitted village-level entrepreneurs at common service centers to manage registrations directly.
Congress district president Daljit Singh Gilzian backed Channi’s call for an in-depth investigation, challenging the government’s choice to first require appointment slips via these devices and then drop that requirement
