The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Saturday released a notification instructing households with both a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection and a domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) subscription to give up their LPG connection. These households have also been directed not to request LPG cylinder refills from public sector oil companies or their suppliers.

The directive was issued as an amendment to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, amid disruptions in global fuel supplies caused by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

With the updated order, households utilizing PNG will no longer be permitted to request a new domestic LPG connection.

“Any individual with a Piped Natural Gas connection who also possesses a domestic LPG connection shall not keep their domestic LPG connection or acquire refills of domestic LPG cylinders from any Government oil company or its distributors.” “These individuals will be mandated to promptly give up their domestic LPG connection,” it indicates.
