AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Friday pledged complete backing to Punjab’s industry to compete with China in manufacturing, expressing anger at the import of products like plastic buckets and religious idols from there.
The national convener of the party was speaking to an assembly on the inaugural day of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026.

“I feel very upset when we bring in toys from China, plastic pails, stationery items, and even the plastic jars used for storing spices in our kitchens are sourced from China,” Kejriwal stated.
He further noted, “My blood boils when I see that even after 75 years of Independence, we import plastic buckets and phone chargers from China. We cannot make our own Lakshmi and Ganesh idols. This is a case of love for one’s country. You have to accomplish this for the nation.”
“Let us know what you require and begin exporting to China. No matter the setting you need, we will deliver it. This is not an empty promise,” the AAP leader stated.
The ex-chief minister of Delhi questioned whether these items could not be produced domestically and at a lower price.
“Provide Punjabis the chance, and they will produce goods at lower costs than China and even sell to them,” he claimed.
He claimed that during the 75 years of the nation’s Independence, no administration believed in the abilities of its own citizens.
“Our systems are so deficient that they permit no one to accomplish anything.” We need to be provided with chances. “India needs to be the top nation, and we must overcome China,” he stated.
“Today, I present to you, and (Chief Minister Bhagwant) Mann saab stands by my side, with the entire Punjab government supporting me. Inform us of what you require to overcome China, and we will supply it to you in Punjab,” he stated.
Kejriwal recalled that in the 1980s, Punjab held the top rank in the nation for per capita income, a distinction it has since lost, falling to 18th place over the last four decades.
“When we assumed control of the government in 2022, the environment was quite bleak. Businesses were relocating from Punjab,” he stated.
“When we assumed control of the governmentin Punjab and witnessed widespread darkness, we sought to comprehend how many nations that were once lagging behind India have advanced so significantly now,” he stated.
Kejriwal stated he views AAP not as a political party, but as a startup, a Unicorn, and believes it will evolve into a national party within 10-12 years.
