The route of the Amritsar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express has been changed by the Railway Board. This train, which had a one-day trial run from Jalandhar City on August 10, 2025, will no longer stop at Jalandhar City. Rather, the Vande Bharat Express will travel through Batala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and Jammu. Following the new schedule, the stop will only be at Batala and Gurdaspur.

Jalandhar City reportedly has been taken off from the list of stops. This indicates that individuals from Jalandhar must take the train from either Jalandhar Cantt or Phagwara. This has become a hassle for individuals commuting from Jalandhar each day. This adjustment was made following a trial conducted from Jalandhar City. This was carried out because the inclusion of Jalandhar City was leading to delays in train schedules.

The trial additionally showed that adding the Jalandhar stop was leading to delays for other trains running on that route. The Shatabdi Express and the Shatranj-e-Punjab, two extremely well-liked trains, were experiencing delays as well.

The railway authorities, including senior DCM Parmdeep Saini, intend to address the issue with the Ministry of Railways to determine if the Jalandhar stop can be rescheduled for a later time.

The present situation is that the Delhi-Jalandhar City Vande Bharat Express (22447/22448) runs daily to Jalandhar City, arriving at 5:30 PM from New Delhi. Moreover, the 22487/22488 Delhi-Amritsar and 22439 Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat express also make a stop at Jalandhar Cantt.

The authorities, suchas Senior DCM Parmdeep Saini, have indicated that they will examine the issue and attempt to incorporate the stop at Jalandhar in the future. In the meantime, the city’sresidents will need to adapt to the updated route.

In the meantime, citizens find some comfort as the Delhi-Jalandhar City Vande Bharat Express continues its daily service, arriving at the station around 5:30 PM, while other Vande Bharat Express trains are also stopping at Jalandhar Cantt, linking to other important cities.
