Jalandhar Man Dies by Suicide, Family alleges Harassment over Debt

Reports claim that Arun Kumar who was an employee at a lottery shop, hung himself inside the shop near fish market in Jalandhar’s Basti Bawa Khel area.

A shocking case has come ahead from Jalandhar’s Basti Bawa Khel area where a 45 year old man committed suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar alias Lucky who was a resident of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, had two daughters. Reports claim that Arun Kumar who was an employee at a lottery shop, hung himself inside the shop near fish market in Jalandhar’s Basti Bawa Khel area.

As per the information received, the deceased before dying made a video and sent it to his wife, naming several people.

It is reported that Arun Kumar had been under financial stress and debt for some time. According to his family, he had borrowed money from several people at interest to pay for his daughter’s treatment, but was constantly harassed for failing to repay installments on time. This stress ultimately claimed claimed his life.

Following the incident, police recovered suicide note and a voice recording from the scene. Thereafter, the officials led investigation which revealed that the deceased had sent a WhatsApp message to his family before his death.

Deceased’s wife, Sonia alleged that her husband had been under constant pressure from his lenders, causing him to suffer mental strain.
