PWD has announced a month-long closure of the road link between Nakodar and Mehatpur to facilitate extensive reconstruction and upgrade work.

The Punjab Public Works Department (PWD) has announced a month-long closure of the croad link between Nakodar and Mehatpur to facilitate extensive reconstruction and upgrade work.
Following persistent complaints regarding the deteriorating state of the stretch, the Jalandhar Cantonment branch of the PWD confirmed that construction will begin immediately. To ensure the safety of commuters and the quality of the new road surface, all public traffic will be prohibited from using the primary route for the next 30 days.
To minimize disruption, the district administration and PWD have announced alternative routes for various destinations:
- From Nakodar to Mehatpur/Jagraon: Vehicles must travel via Bir Village and Muhema Village to reach Mehatpur.
- Towards Jalandhar, Nakodar, or Moga: Traffic will be diverted through Padori Khas, eventually merging onto the National Highway (Moga-Jalandhar Road).
Commuters are advised to expect slightly longer travel times due to the diversions and are encouraged to follow the` traffic instructions during this 30-day period.
