The victim has been identified as Dr. Rahul Sood. He is a doctor at Kidney Hospital Jalandhar. Shortly, after the incident came into police notice, an investigation was carried forward.
A shocking incident has come ahead of Jalandhar where a group of people on Tuesday evening shot a doctor in his leg. An incident occurred in the Urban Estate Phase 2, outside ‘MORE’ supermarket.
Doctor is a resident of Jalandhar Heights-2, is a nephrologist. He went to the store for some household purchases. While, after finishing up his shopping, he was heading towards his car, the incident took place.

Senior Police officials including DCP Manpreet Singh Dhillon quickly reached the scene.
Sources reveal that an entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera placed nearby. The footage evidently narrates the whole situation. It has been recorded that the group tried to kidnap the police, however failed.
While the chaos was going, one of the men fired at the doctor’s leg. The victim shouted, and the accused group fled from the spot. Dr. Sood, laying at the spot, only called one of his known doctors
And, he then was rushed to the Kidney Hospital for the treatment. Fortunately, the victim is stable and has told authorities that he had no idea of such an incident. Neither he was warned nor have been hinted of any such thing.
Still, the reason is unknown, however the police investigations are underway. Significantly, the authorities have identified the accused based on the motorcycle. Three were included in the case.
“We should be able to nab the accused shortly,” said a senior officer.
Such incidents are not new in Jalandhar. Several similar cases get reported on a frequent basis which is raising a big question on the safety of residents.
Just over a month back, a case was reported on June 21, 2025 where firing was done in a land dispute matter.
