After carrying the crime for over two years, the identified offender Hitesh Kumar Singla was arrested on September 17 (Friday) at Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station.

Hitesh Kumar Singla, who was on the run after having been involved in fraudulent activities from 2023 to 2025, was arrested on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.
Hitesh Kumar Singla was an official at the Bank of India, and has been charged under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
What is the matter?
Hitesh Kumar Singla is allegedly charged under the fraud case. As per the sources, he without any authorisation closed 127 inactive accounts, be it savings, term deposits, PPFs etc.
Reportedly, the money from all these accounts gathered is approximately INR 16 Crore which he further transferred into his personal account. With such a crime committed, he targeted customers which included senior citizens, minors, deceased account holders.
It is being claimed that he transferred the funds in small amounts to his personal account, so could not be detected. And, he carried this for over two years.
What are legal actions taken against him?
After carrying the crime for over two years, the identified offender Hitesh Kumar Singla was arrested on September 17 (Friday) at Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station.
It has come into light that the legal actions against him are to be taken considering the charges on him under money laundering laws. Not only this, the case as well involves the ED (Enforcement Directorate) under money laundering laws.
Moreover, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and others will be the part.
The punishments will be as per the norms of IPC Section 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust), Section 316 (5) of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) , and Section 13 (2) with Section 13 (1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
