Diwali is one of the most joyous festivals of India. It is celebrated as the arrival of Lord Rama and Sita from exile after fourteen years. It is marked that Rama returns to his kingdom after fourteen years and in its joy, the residents of Ayodhya lit up the lamps and diyas to welcome him with lights and enthusiasm by bursting crackers. From then, Diwali is celebrated as Lord Rama’s return from exile.
In India, it is said that the new year began after Diwali. To close and end the year people perform Lakshmi puja and welcome Lakshmi to their household to mark the spiritual positive and wealthy beginning of new year. During this puja, a lot of sweets are offered and the Lakshmi mantra is recited.
Lakshmi Maa’s Three Favorite sweets to prepare this Diwali
Kheer

Kheer is considered as the first favorite dish of Goddess Lakshmi. The guide to prepare the kheer is:
- Take a wok, add in one litre of milk
- Boil the milk, then add half glass of washed rice in that milk
- Let the rice soften in milk and form a better consistency
- When it’s done, add sugar as per the taste and add ghee sauteed almonds, pistachio, raisins and cashews.
Kheer is ready to be offered.
Jaggery Wheat Halwa

Jaggery is also considered as one of the favorite ingredients of Lakshmi Maa. The steps for the same are:
- In a saucepan take 1/2 cup of jaggery and boil in six cups of water
- In another wok, add 1 cup of wheat flour and roast it in 1 cup of desi ghee
- Once the wheat turns golden brown and is well roasted add the jaggery water and stir until it leaves the sides of wok .
- As a final touch add the ghee roasted dried nuts.
Offer the halwa to the goddess and welcome her with sweetness.
Besan Ladoo

Ladoo is the sweet closest to Lakshmi Maa whether it is Besan or Motichoor. The Besan Ladoo is a simple recipe to prepare on Diwali. It includes simple steps:
- In a wok take 1/2 half of desi ghee and add 2 cups of besan and two tablespoons of semolina.
- Roast the besan until it turns aromatic.
- Once it is done transfer the besan and semolina mix to a bowl and let it cool a bit.
- Once the heat of the mix is tolerable for hand, take a cup of powdered sugar and add to the mix.
- And start making ladoos. If the mix feels dry add in extra ghee.
After following all the steps the delicacy is ready to be offered to Maa Lakshmi.
