PM Modi on Monday expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to spend Diwali with the Indian Navy on board the domestic aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.

He informed the staff, “I have been among you since yesterday, and every moment I have learned to live in the moment,” as he described the experience of spending the night on board the aircraft carrier. I could not live up to your level of dedication, but I have undoubtedly felt it. I can appreciate how challenging this must be to endure.

He also said it was surreal to see the deep ocean at night and in the early morning. 

“Today, I have a limitless sky and horizon on one side, and this giant, INS Vikrant, with boundless powers on the other. Like the Diwali lamps ignited by valiant soldiers, the sun’s beams shine on the ocean’s waves,” he continued.

One of the Indian Navy’s biggest real-time operational moves outside of regular peacetime drills was this deployment.
