Lotus is an aquatic plant with a sacred symbolism. This flower grows in muddy water and still blooms unstained. It is said that lotus symbolises pure heart and rebirth. Lotus grows in five different colors – pink, red, blue, white and purple. 

Lotus holds a deep spiritual meaning which states that lotus grows in a water that is murky but still blooms bright and enhances the grace of a pond that is murky and muddy. Similarly humans can grow as he / she wants no matter where they stand today. 

Different Colors Different Meanings 

  • Pink: The pink lotus holds a meaning which is love and compassion. It is best to offer it to the person you love.
  • Red: Passion is the core significance of red lotus. It can be offered to one who is artistic or is exploring the business side to wish success. 
  • White: It symbolises purity. It can be kept to spread positive energy for the one practicing spiritual awakening. 
  • Blue: The lotus blue denotes wisdom and tranquility. 
  • Purple: This holds a meaning of balance. 

How to grow Lotus at Home

This flower is sacred and considered a source of positivity in both Buddhism and Hinduism. 

To grow the lotus steps are as follows:

  • Add clay mud and compost in a container that is watertight
  • Place the lotus seed into it, add fresh water for 6 hours and give proper sunlight for some days
  • Fill a container with rotten manure as using light soil will make the seed float. 
  • Now place the tuber that has started growing, keep the face of growth upwards. 
  • Take proper care of plant, water properly, maintain the environment, Use aquatic fertilizers
  • Pluck the pruned leaves
  • In case the plant grows outside the pot, repot the plant.
