Raccoon dies in Liquor Store After Drinking Whiskey in Hanover, Virginia

Officer Samantha Martin said the unusual incident made her laugh as she commented, “Personally, I think raccoons are very entertaining little animals.

Authorities in Hanover County have reported that a very intoxicated raccoon broke into a liquor store, destroying liquor shelves and spreading liquor all over the floor before finally passing out face first in the store restroom.

Although it may appear that a burglary occurred, it has been ruled a result of a small and innocent creature getting too intoxicated on whiskey and passing out in the bathroom.

The liquor store incident caused the raccoon to become incapacitated and destroyed many liquor bottles during the event.

Officer Samantha Martin said the unusual incident made her laugh as she commented, “Personally, I think raccoons are very entertaining little animals. To watch him burst through a ceiling tile and cause all that chaos. He ate and drank everything he saw on the way down.”

Samantha took the raccoon to a local animal shelter.”As an animal control officer, this is just another example of my day-to-day experiences.”

The Raccoon is recovering from his difficult day according to the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter.

In their announcement, the agency noted that the raccoon was okay following a rest: “After a few hours of sleep and no signs of injury (aside from perhaps a hangover and questionable decisions), he was safely returned to the wild, hopefully having understood that breaking and entering isn’t the solution.”
