In the early morning hours of Sunday, two schoolteachers met with fatal injuries in the Moga district of Punjab, India when their vehicle fall off the road and crashed into a canal. The poor visibility due to foggy conditions on the roads caused the vehicle to go too far to the left and lose traction, causing it to plunge into the canal by the roadside.

The couple was enroute to Sangatpura Village for Kamaljeet Kaur’s election duty as a member of the Punjab zila parishad when this tragic accident occurred; the fog caused a miscalculation of the distance from the edge of the road and caused them to lose control of the automobile. Both the teachers died instantly as a result of the collision.

Kamaljeet Kaur was reporting for her duties at the polling location, and Jas Karan Singh was a member of the teaching staff, who was employed as an English Instructor and he resided in Mansa District.

The couple were government school teachers posted in Moga district.

The demise of the couple has sent shockwaves among the teaching fraternity across the district.
