Abdul’s friend stated, “We heard gunshots, and we immediately drove him to the nearest hospital. His condition was very serious.”
A shooting incident occurred in Punjab when Abdul Mohammad, a 22-year-old man, was killed by an unknown shooters while riding on the back of a friend’s Activa scooter on a highway between Hariana and Kangmai.
Witnesses and local residents have expressed shock at this sudden death occurring in broad daylight, which happened just before Abdul left for his regular gym workout in Hariana.
Police and witnesses reported that unknown gunmen arrived at the scene of the shooting in a white Alto vehicle and immediately opened fire on Abdul as he crossed over a bridge near the town of Hariana. It was reported that approximately 5-7 shots were fired, and Abdul sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and head area.
Abdul was a villager from Kangmai located approximately 25 km east of Hariana and was enroute to his regular workout at the gym. As a result of the severity of his injuries, Abdul’s friend and other witnesses were able to transport him to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur, but doctors were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Abdul’s friend provided information to police, stating that Abdul had no animosity towards anyone and never received threats from anyone. Abdul’s friend stated, “We heard gunshots, and we immediately drove him to the nearest hospital. His condition was very serious.”
The shooting of Abdul has raised concerns within the community following a shooting just a day earlier that involved the fatal shooting of kabaddi player Rana Balachauria during a kabaddi tournament held in Sohana, Mohali.
Following these incidents, many people have expressed concern about the increasing amount of gun violence in this region.
Police Officials have opened a case regarding Abdul’s death and have begun their investigation into the matter. Investigation Teams are also reviewing surveillance camera recordings from the surrounding area to help identify those responsible for Abdul’s death and locate the vehicle (white Suzuki Alto) used in the crime.
Law Enforcement Officials stated they are continuing their investigation in order to arrest those involved and determine what led to Abdul’s murder.
