On X, the consulate expressed surprise and sadness about Himanshi Khurana’s death in Toronto, giving their sympathies to Khurana’s family for her tragic loss.
According to the consulate, they are in contact with local law enforcement about the investigation and doing everything within their ability to assist Khurana’s family and are working with local law enforcement agencies while the investigation is continuing.

The Toronto police identified the deceased victim as Himanshi Khurana, who lived in Toronto. Toronto police are searching for Abdul Ghafoori, 32, who lives in Toronto and is a suspect connected with this crime. CBC News said investigators believe this violent act may have been domestic-related. Toronto police learned about this case after receiving a missing person’s report Friday night.
According to Police, the call for a missing person in the Strachan Ave and Wellington St W area was received around 10:41 PM on Dec. 19, 2020.
Their search continued overnight. “At about 6:30 AM on Dec. 20, 2020, the missing female was found deceased at an address,” Police noted, adding that the circumstances surrounding her death have been classified as homicide.
Police confirmed that the suspect and victim had some sort of relationship, with Ghafoori being wanted under Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder and could potentially face a life sentence without parole, should he be found guilty of committing murder with premeditation and intent.
