‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ an initiative led under the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reaches its 17th day, Punjab Police on Thursday carried out 681 raids at identified and mapped sites connected to gangsters’ associates throughout the state.
According to the information received, the “Gangstran Te Vaar” is a significant campaign to establish a gangster-free Punjab which is initiated by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026.
Police units from every district, in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been carrying out special operations throughout the state.
On Day 17, law enforcement officials detained 274 people and seized four firearms along with 11 live rounds from them, bringing the overall arrests to 4,649 since the campaign began. In addition to this, preventative measures have been implemented for 135 individuals, while 248 individuals were checked and subsequently released after interrogation.
During the operation, police teams apprehended 27 proclaimed offenders (POs).
Individuals notably can anonymously provide information about wanted criminals and gang members, as well as share tips concerning crime and criminal behavior, via the Anti Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Reportedly, the police officials have continued with the campaign against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” for the 341st day. The apprehended 95 drug traffickers on Thursday and seized 445 grams of heroin, 516 narcotic tablets/capsules, and Rs 39,020 in drug money from them.
Consequently, the total count of drug smugglers apprehended has climbed to 47,784 within only 341 days. In the context of De-addiction, the Punjab Police has persuaded 27 individuals to participate in de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
