In another incident of honeymoon violence, a man was fatally injured in what seemed to be a hit-and-run incident while he was walking with his wife. As his wife was attacked and her gold jewelry stolen, she was left unconscious on the street.
What seemed to be a fatal hit-and-run incident revealed itself to be a murder scheme orchestrated by the victim, Ashish’s spouse, Anju, in collaboration with her lover.
The police inquiry uncovered that Anju had her boyfriend, Sanju, and two others murder Ashish, staging it to appear as a road accident. It is currently referred to as the honeymoon murder in Rajasthan.
The incident unfolded on January 30 when around 9 pm police received a call that a couple was lying unconscious on the road.
“We were informed that a man had been hit by an unidentified vehicle, leading to his death. We surveyed the accident site and also called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to investigate from the technical point of view,” said Duhan.
Anju, 23, told the police that she and her husband had stepped out for an evening walk when an unidentified vehicle hit Ashish and her. She also claimed that she was robbed of the gold jewellery she was wearing.
However, the police becamewary as the investigation into the case progressed,revealinginconsistenciesbetween the on-ground situation and Anju’s account.
The pair tied the knot three months back, but Anju was allegedly dissatisfied with the marriage and went back to her hometown shortly after, where she reunited with her ex-boyfriend, Sanju, and the two are believed to have plotted Ashish’s murder during that period.
