Notably, the information has been shared by the Indian Mission. And, the deceased has been identified as Saketh Sreenivasaiah who was a student at the University of California, Berkeley. Saketh reportedly came to the US from Karnataka, India.
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco on Sunday confirmed that the body has been recovered. They meanwhile has assured that all the necessary assistance will be provided to send the mortal remains to India to the earliest.
“The Consulate deeply regrets to inform that local police have confirmed the recovery of the body of the missing India student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah,” said in a post share on “X” earlier known as twitter.
While extending the condolences, the consulate mentioned that the officials are ready to provide all the necessary assistance to the deceased’s family to send the mortal remains to India. The Consulates, however, are coordinating with Saketh’s family for all the required formalities.
Deceased’s backpack, with his passport and laptop, was found on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighbourhood, The Berkeley Scanner news portal had reported.
Earlier, local police had urged anyone with information about Sreenivasaiah to notify local law enforcement.
