Amritsar Police achieves significant victory in Operation Prahar-2. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, discussing the operation’s success, notes that over the past three days, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar have made considerable progress in their fight against drugs and organized crime.
He states that throughout this unique initiative, numerous seizures occurred and many offenders have been captured. He claims that even after the operation concluded, the campaign has persisted, forcefully applying pressure on offenders.
The Police Commissioner informs that a total of 27 accused were arrested in the case related to NDPS Act from February 12 to February 16. During this period, about 8 kg of narcotics, drug money and vehicles used in illegal activities were also seized.
A total of 11 vehicles were seized, which included four-wheelers and two-wheelers that were linked to drug trafficking and criminal networks. It was further revealed that 86 wanted criminals were identified during the operation that includes some named in serious criminal cases such as Section 307 (attempt to murder).
Four criminals who had been evading capture for an extended period were also arrested during this four-day operation. Thorough inspections were conducted at hotels and various locations to monitor and control suspicious activities.
The officer elaborated that, according to the Chief Minister’s directives, there is a concentrated effort on two key campaigns targeting organized crime: the ‘war on drugs’ and the ‘war on gangsters.’ He stated that Punjab Police is advancing these initiatives under a zero-tolerance policy to ensure that criminals receive no form of leniency.
He stated that these stringent measures will persist in the upcoming days, and the police will implement every possible action to ensure Amritsar becomes a drug-free and secure city.
