Under this policy, members of the public can receive cash rewards of up to Rs 2 lakh or even more if they provide reliable information that helps in the arrest of criminals.

The Punjab Government has launched a new reward policy to encourage people to share information about gangsters and wanted criminals. The policy is titled ‘Reward Policy of the State of Punjab for the Arrest of Wanted Criminals’. Under this policy, members of the public can receive cash rewards of up to Rs 2 lakh or even more if they provide reliable information that helps in the arrest of criminals.
According to the government, the main aim of the policy is to involve the public in helping the police catch dangerous offenders. Officials said that people who give credible information leading to the arrest of gangsters will be rewarded based on the seriousness of the crime, the level of risk taken by the informer, and the usefulness of the information shared.
The policy also gives authority to field officers to approve cash rewards not only for informers but also for police personnel who carry out exceptional operations. The final reward amount will depend on different factors, including how important the information was and how risky the operation turned out to be.
To maintain transparency, the policy clearly states that the immediate supervisory officer must submit a detailed recommendation. This recommendation must explain why the reward is being given, confirm that the information was genuine, and mention the specific roles played by the informer or police officials involved.
The government has assured that the identity of informers will be kept completely confidential at every stage. Officials said that protecting the identity of those who share information is very important to ensure their safety.
The policy is part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, which has been launched to make Punjab free from gangster activities. Speaking about the new initiative, Gaurav Yadav said that the reward policy is designed to motivate people to come forward and help the police. He added that the move will also create a clear and transparent system for giving rewards.
The Punjab Government believes that this new policy will strengthen the fight against crime and help maintain law and order in the state.
