Following escalating conflict involving Israel and Iran, several Indian Airlines on Saturday suspended and diverted several international flights. IndiGo reportedly said that it had temporarily cancelled all flights to and from the Middle East due to restrictions around Iranian airspace.
“Our teams are continuously monitoring the evolving situation and recalibrating operations to minimise disruption as much as possible.” IndiGo said.
As per the sources, services have been halted to and from Dubai, Jeddah, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Bahrain, Sarjah, Kuwakit and Ras Al-Khaimah. Air India reportedly confirmed that its Delhi-Tel Aviv flight was forced to return due to the closure of Israeli airspace. The flight was diverted to Mumbai.
An Airline official said the Boeing 777 aircraft had been airborne for over five hours and was over Saudi Arabian airspace when the decision was taken. This has come ahead as per the data from Flightradar24.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India, issued a Safety Advisory on February 28, 2026, warning of heightened risks to civil aviation in the Middle East and Persian Gulf airspace.
The DGCA has advised Indian operators to refrain from operating within the affected airspace at all flight levels and altitudes.
Operators have also been asked to closely monitor updated Aeronautical Information Publications (AIPs) and NOTAMs issued by the affected countries and national authorities, and to note that earlier advisories regarding Syrian and Yemeni airspace remain in full effect.
The advisory is effective immediately and will remain valid until March 1, 2026, unless reviewed or superseded by further developments. Operators have been asked to acknowledge receipt of the communication and confirm that their flight planning departments have been updated.
