Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Sub-Inspector for taking Rs 50,000 Bribe

While narrating the matter, an official noted that a case was registered against Husband and Wife (complainant) in Sangrur Police Station cyber crime. And, Sub- Inspector was an investigation officer.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Saturday, during a campaign against corruption, held Sub-Inspector Mewa Singh. He was posted in Police Station Cyber cell, Sangrur, was caught while accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000.

Highlighting key notes about the matter, official spokesperson of the state VB said that accused Mewa Singh had been arrested based on complaint registered by a resident of village Kothe Maha Singh Wala in Bathinda district.

While narrating the matter, an official noted that a case was registered against Husband and Wife (complainant) in Sangrur Police Station cyber crime. And, Sub- Inspector was an investigation officer. The complainant alleged that the accused Sub-Inspector demanded bribe money of Rs 50,000 to help him and his wife to get discharged from this case.

While, they both refused to pay bribe and approached the VB, Patiala. After the investigations were carried, the VB team caught Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.

The case reportedly has been registered under prevention of corruption act at VB Police Station, Patiala.
