The police officials claim that the accident occurred when the rear tyre of the Ritz car, coming from Moga towards Ludhiana got the flames near Sheikhupura Village.

A major accident has been reported on Wednesday from Ludhiana’s Sheikhupura village. Two persons were killed and five others were seriously injured when a Maruti Ritz Car and a Maruti Swift Car collided on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road.
The deceased have been identified as Gaudin and Sirjadin. As per the sources, Gaudin who is 35 was driving the Swift Car and Sirjadin who is 30 was a passenger in the same vehicle. Gaudin died on the spot, While Sirjadin died during a treatment at hospital.

Upon watching the accident, the locals used rods to break the windows and rescued the trapped.
A resident of Khasi Kalan, Sipaiya, brother of the deceased Sirjadin, said, “They were all going to Moga for a party. My brother Sirjadin died in the accident. He is survived by three daughters and a son. We do not want to take any action against anyone. Gaudin, who was a milkman, has four sons and a daughter.”
The injured reportedly have been identified as Harshdeep Singh and Devkaran Singh who are the residents of Ludhiana who were in the Ritz car. And, Laldin, Mamusain, Shanu, residents of Tajpur Road, Ludhiana were in the Swift car.
Following the death, the families of deceased refused to allow a postmortem and tried to take away one of the bodies from the Civil Hospital mortuary in a vehicle. Police, however, explained that in road accident cases, the body can only be released after completion of legal formalities, including the postmortem. The police have seized both damaged vehicles and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
