Security and Hospitality Arrangements
The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), which manages minority religious sites in Pakistan, confirmed that a high-level review meeting was held on Tuesday at the Punjab Home Department to finalize logistics.
“We have ensured comfortable accommodation in well-decorated marquees, quality bedding, clean drinking water, and air conditioning at all residential sites,” said Nasir Mushtaq, ETPB Additional Secretary of Shrines.
He further emphasized that “fool proof security arrangements” would be in place across all religious venues to ensure the safety of both Indian and international devotees.
The issuance of these visas comes at a time of continued complexity in Indo-Pak relations. Despite broader diplomatic freezes and recent regional tensions, religious tourism remains a steady bridge for people-to-people exchange.
Baisakhi, or Vaisakhi, holds immense spiritual weight for the Sikh community, marking the day in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth. For many Indian Sikhs, the journey to Nankana Sahib the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is a lifelong aspiration.
The pilgrims are expected to conclude their spiritual journey and return to India via the Wagah-Attari border on April 19.
