As police teams tried to catch accused, suspects shot at police, and bullets hit the bulletproof jackets of Head Constable.

In a major success under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s efforts to make Punjab safer, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and SAS Nagar Police foiled a major terror plot on Wednesday. Four operatives linked to foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested after an exchange of fire near Steel Strips Towers on the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway, DGP Gaurav Yadav said.
The arrested persons were identified as Harvinder Singh alias Bhola alias Honey and Lakhwinder Singh, who are residents of Dhakansu Kalan in Rajpura, Patiala; and Mohammad Samir and Rohit Sharma, both residents of Rajpura, Patiala. Police teams have also retrieved seven .32 caliber firearms along with 70 cartridges from their possession.

DGP Gaurav Yadav mentioned that the initial investigation has shown that the accused were under the command of a handler living abroad and were planning some targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala area. He said further inquiries are being conducted to establish both forward and backward linkages in this case.
Promod Ban, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF, informed that a house situated on the Dera Bassi-Ambala highway was spotted with operatives based on the specific intelligence inputs received. He further stated that immediate action was taken by the joint police teams of AGTF and SAS Nagar Police under the leadership of DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar, who surrounded the area.
As the police teams tried to catch the accused, the suspects shot at the police party, and the bullets hit the bulletproof jackets of Head Constable Gagandeep Singh and Constable Gulab Singh, stated the ADGP. He further said that in the return fire, two suspects, namely Harvinder Singh alias Bhola and Mohammad Samir, were hit by bullets and were eventually overpowered, along with the other two accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Harmandeep Hans, who was in the area, said that all four arrested persons have criminal backgrounds. He said that the investigation is still underway to find more operatives of this module. Furthermore, more arrests and recoveries are expected in the next few days.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 345 dated 26.11.2025 has been filed under the appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at Dera Bassi Police Station.
