The Sarpanch of Village Valtoha Sandhua, Jarmal Singh from AAP on Sunday (January 4, 2025) shot dead while he was attending a marriage functio at a resort in Amritsar. The village in in the Tarn Taran District.
The incident took place at around 3 pm when the sarpanch was sitting at a table with other people who were known to him. The attackers came in proper wedding suitable attire, wearing suits due to which they were seeming as guests.
As per the reports, the rounds were shot on Sarpanch’s head. A local and eyewitness said, “The program was going well when two boys came, fired shots, and ran away.
The investigations on the matter are underway. Jagjit Singh Walia, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said that investigations are in progress. They are checking the CCTV footages so the accused can be identified.
Reports reveal that this was the fourth attack on Sarpanch. He was a commission agent and a construction contractor, had been receiving extortion threats from a foreign- based gangster, Prabh Dassuwal for more than a year.
