PM Modi Reaches Tianjin for SCO Summit, Meets Xi Jinping and Global Leaders

PM Modi reportedly invited Jinping for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa ) Summit which India will host in 2026.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on August 30, 2025 reached Tianjin, China for 25th SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) Summit. With this land, PM Modi marks his first visit since 2018.

The SCO Summit has taken place in Tianjin at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. There will be multiple of the leaders who have arrived in China for the Summit. 

The discussions at the Summit had key stress on Trump’s tariff announcements. It also highlighted the US-India trade tensions. Not only this, PM Modi also had a meeting with Myanmar’s acting President and military chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

These focused on the development partnerships and security ahead of Myanmar’s upcoming elections. 

PM Modi meets Global Leaders

PM Modi while taking it to his ‘X’ formerly known as twitter account, has shared the glimpses, meeting the world leaders. He shared a separate post having interaction with all the leaders.

He met Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Lao PDR President Thongloun Sisoulith.

Adding to it, he also shared the glimpse of interaction with Vietnam PM Pham Minh Chinh, Kazakhstan President Tokayev, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly, Maldives President Muizzu, Nepali PM KP Oli.

At the sidelines of the SCO Summit, PM Modi and President Xi Jinping acknowledged the positive momentum in India-China relations. 

PM Modi reportedly invited Jinping for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa ) Summit which India will host in 2026. Sources as well reveal that they both shared a common vision on resumption of direct flights, visa facilitation.

While having the conversation, Jinping laid focus on maintaining peace in border areas and multilateral cooperation.

“We reviewed the positive momentum in India-China relations since our last meeting in Kazan. We agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas and reaffirmed our commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity,” read PM Modi’s twitter post.
