Gautam Adani, said separately that Google and its joint venture company AdaniConneX will build new green energy infrastructure and India’s largest AI data center complex in Visakhapatnam.

In collaboration with Adani Group, Google plans to invest USD 15 billion over the next five years to establish an AI hub in India, which will feature the largest data center in the nation.
With a 1-gigawatt data center campus, new large-scale energy sources, and an enhanced fiber-optic network, the AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, will be Google’s largest outside of the United States, the tech giant announced.
Such an announcement was made at Bharat AI Shakti in New Delhi. This event was hosted by Google ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026. The event notably was attended by several ministers including-
- Andhra Pradesh’s CM, N Chandrababu Naidu
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
- Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
It’s a pleasure to talk with India PM @narendramodi @OfficialINDIAai about our plans for the historic first Google AI cluster in Visakhapatnam.
This hub integrates large-scale energy infrastructure, a new international subsea gateway, and gigawatt-scale computing capability. Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated in a post on X that “through it we will bring our industry-leading technology to enterprises and users in India, accelerating AI innovation and driving growth across the country.”
Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of billionaire Gautam Adani, said separately that Google and its joint venture company AdaniConneX will build new green energy infrastructure and India’s largest AI data center complex in Visakhapatnam.
With a multifaceted investment of over USD 15 billion spread over five years (2026–2030), Google’s AI hub in Visakhapatnam will power India’s most demanding AI workloads with gigawatt-scale data center operations backed by a strong subsea cable network and clean energy.
“It will be brought to life in close collaboration with ecosystem partners including AdaniConneX and Airtel,” the business said in a statement.
However, it made no mention of the data center investment.
The company has mentioned that the project will include joint investment in Andhra Pradesh’s Energy Storage Systems, Renewable Power, and New Transmission Lines.
“This goes beyond merely making an infrastructural investment. It is an investment in a developing country’s soul.”We are investing in the Google AI hub, which will provide the critical foundation to drive growth and enable businesses, researchers, and creators to build and scale with AI,” Kurian stated, highlighting India’s enormous potential in the AI era.
According to a Google-commissioned analysis, the AI hub is anticipated to contribute at least USD 15 billion to the US GDP over the course of five years (2026–2030) due to new economic activity brought about by the growing use of cloud computing and AI, as well as the American talent and resources needed to build and run the hub.
Speaking at the event, Sitharaman stated that since 2014, a number of policy enablers have been a part of the governance under the Modi administration.
Sitharaman expressed gratitude to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu, saying that he has demonstrated his ability to expand digital infrastructure in previous positions.
“So, I think, it is just the right place to land in and the right country to be in… it is one of those very interesting phases in the Indian history where policy is pushing ahead much before many of the parties in political arena are even ready to absorb,” Sitharaman stated.
