Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Punjab Police Ropar Range, was taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday afternoon from his Mohali office in relation to a suspected corruption case.
According to sources, CBI investigators in the investigation also detained another private citizen. They stated that in addition to Bhullar’s workplace, they also searched his home and one other place.
It has been alleged that the Ropar Range DIG was transported to Panchkula and then returned.
According to sources, a Fatehgarh scrap dealer’s complaint was taken up by the CBI Chandigarh. On this, the CBI team assured that there is no Punjab Police Officer involved in the case by the authorities.
Notably, there has been no stance on the matter by the Senior Police Officers.
Bhullar on November 27, 2024, began working as the Ropar Range DIG. He served as the Patiala Range DIG before this. He actively participated in the Ropar Range’s “Yudh Nasheyan Virudh” anti-drug campaign and was renowned for keeping a low profile.
