This new integration will enable millions of Indian tourists in Malaysia to make secure and instant payments to local businesses. They can utilize their favorite UPI applications without requiring international cards or concerns about currency conversion. This is anticipated to enhance travel efficiency and ease.
The need for convenient digital payment options has increased due to the surge in Indian tourists visiting Malaysia. UPI, India’s instantaneous payment system, has fundamentally changed the way Indians transact.
In September 2025 alone, it processed nearly 20 billion transactions. The system is known for its speed, security, and reliability. Malaysian merchants can now take advantage of this system by processing UPI payments via Razorpay Curlec’s platform.
As reported by NDTV, in this setup, Indian tourists’ payments will be processed in Malaysia’s local currency, the ringgit (RM). This arrangement benefits both parties. Indian users can make instant payments in their preferred method, while Malaysian businesses can effortlessly accept payments without managing foreign currency.

He mentioned that via Curlec, Razorpay is providing a similar experience in Malaysia to assist both travelers and companies in enjoying quick and easy transactions
