The couple got married in Bhubaneswar on November 23 and were to celebrate a reception at Gujarat Bhavan, Hubballi on December 3.

Due to the massive IndiGo flight cancellations that left them stranded far from the venue, a newlyweds couple had to hold their wedding reception virtually instead of going physically.
Medha Kshirsagar from Hubballi and Sangama Das from Bhubaneswar, both are software engineers working in Bengaluru, got married in Bhubaneswar on November 23 and were to celebrate a reception at Gujarat Bhavan, Hubballi on December 3.
The duo of Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru and further to Hubballi flights were rescheduled due to ongoing pilot shortage and planning gaps in implementing Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms from Tuesday morning till early Wednesday before being cancelled. The relatives who traveled the same way also went through cancellations.
Having all the guests assembled, the bride’s parents entered the scene and executed the rituals in place of the couple, while Medha and Sangama participated in the function through a video call, they were all in their marriage clothes.
Operating roughly 2,200 flights in a single day, IndiGo recorded a historic flight cancellation of over 500 with the highest number in its 20-year operating period. Further disruptions in the field have been forewarned by the airline until December 8, but a major turnaround is projected by the airline for February 10, 2026.
Even with the difficulties, the family made sure that the reception took place, which, in turn, was a memorable online event.
