Tuberculosis refers to a bacterial illness that affects the respiratory system of a human being. It is spread through the bad air that majorly targets lungs. Tuberculosis (TB) starts from the respiratory system but can also be spread to other organs and can be death causing if not well treated.
The symptoms of TB includes:

- Cough that release blood
- Weight loss
- Fever
- Sweating during the night
- Tuberculosis is not as simple as it seems it is not just about coughing but life if no serious treatment is given.
India’s Situation and Role in spread of Tuberculosis (TB)

The current situation of India is highly TB burdened. The various reasons that contribute to increasing Tuberculosis are:
- Poverty is the leading cause of this problem as the underdeveloped areas exists on a large scale in India and the environment that surrounds these areas are very low maintenance. Also the reported TB exists in slum areas and other such areas.
- Malnutrition causes TB as it leads to a weaker immune system and can easily let bacterias to take place in bodies.
- The Indian government does not offer much to the patients of tuberculosis. The shortage of funding is also a reason to be concerned.
- Treatment of this problem is so expensive and the most burdened areas are the ones that lack financial factors which makes the medicine and treatment unaffordable for a large number of patients.
- HIV is high in India, most HIV cases are found after the usage of the same syringes and both drug addiction and HIV can cause TB.
- The shortfalls in treatment and diagnosis are the major contributors to TB.
Steps taken by Government to Eliminate Tuberculosis
The Indian government has formed a goal that states , the country will eliminate this problem in 2025. Major steps that are taken by Indian Government are:
- The Pardhan Mantri TB Mukt Abhiyan is a high contribution in the cure of disease.
- Providing TB patients with one thousand rupees every month for the medication, also this scheme is known as Nikshay Poshan Yojna.
