Encounter Breaks Out Between Security Forces and Terrorists in Kathua

According to sources, a suspected terrorist was spotted by local residents around 4 pm near Kamad Nallah under the Billawar police station limits.

An encounter broke out between security forces and suspected Pakistan-backed terrorists in a remote village of Kathua district on Wednesday evening, officials said.

Security agencies believe that two to three terrorists, linked to the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, are hiding in the area and have engaged in a gunfight with the forces.

The encounter began in Kahog village of the Billawar area after security personnel launched a search operation based on specific intelligence inputs about terrorist presence.

Confirming the incident, Inspector General of Police (Jammu zone) Bhim Sen Tuti said that the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kathua established contact with terrorists in the forest area of Kamadh Nullah.

According to sources, a suspected terrorist was spotted by local residents around 4 pm near Kamad Nallah under the Billawar police station limits. The suspect is believed to be the same person seen earlier in the Dhannu Parole area.

Officials said additional security forces have been rushed to the spot, and the operation is still underway.
