Indian Embassy Asks Citizens to Keep Documents Ready to leave Iran as Death Toll Crosses 2,500

In a major development, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday openly urged protesters to take control of state institutions and remain firm.

Amid worsening unrest in Iran and a sharp rise in deaths linked to ongoing protests, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has advised all Indian nationals to leave the country at the earliest using available options, including commercial flights.

The advisory comes as protests across Iran continue for several weeks with no signs of easing. Reports suggest that the death toll from the unrest has crossed 2,500, raising serious international concern over the security situation.

In a major development, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday openly urged protesters to take control of state institutions and remain firm. He also hinted at external support, though no specific details were provided.

Iranian authorities have denied claims of widespread internal dissent and instead blamed foreign forces for the violence. Officials accused the United States and Israel of fueling instability and claimed that the casualties were caused by “terrorist operatives” backed by external powers.

In view of the deteriorating situation, the Indian Embassy urged Indian citizens including students, pilgrims, tourists and business travelers to exercise extreme caution. Nationals have been advised to avoid protest areas, stay updated through reliable local media, and remain in regular contact with the Embassy.

The Embassy also asked Indian nationals to keep essential documents such as passports and identity papers ready and to immediately register with the Embassy if they have not already done so. Emergency helpline numbers and email services have been activated to provide assistance.

Reiterating its advisory, the Embassy stressed that Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) should prioritise their safety and take all necessary precautions until the situation stabilises.
