Khaira called the move politically motivated, alleges step was taken without notice

In Kapurthala’s Bhulath area, the dispute over alleged property of the house of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in his native village Ramgarh took a new twist on Monday after the administration razed an alleged illegal construction connected with the property. The action triggered tensions in the area.
Before the action, Khaira had appealed to his supporters and following his orders a large number of them stated gathering outside his house. Sensing trouble, heavy police deployment was made at the spot and its surrounding were put under a security cordon.
Based on administrative sources, the demolition was aimed at an alleged unauthorized construct linked to the main house. However, Khaira called the movement politically inspired. He said the step was being taken without any notice or hearing. Khaira said, “On the illegal orders of CM Bhagwant Mann, the police and bureaucracy are trying to forcibly demolish my house’s part in Ramgarh without any notice or hearing.”
Senior police and administrative officers were deployed at the location and the area is tense.
Bhulath DSP Karnael Singh informed that MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira had closed a street illegally by installing a gate which has been demolished in the presence of BDPO Nadala KS Dhillon and Tehsildar Balwinder Singh. The street has been opened for the public and to avoid any untoward situation police security was deployed.
