During the journey, one of the two men already seated in the e-rickshaw, identified as Lucky, allegedly attempted to pick Kuldeep Singh’s pocket multiple times.

An elderly man stayed alert and noticed someone trying to steal from him at BMC Chowk in Jalandhar. Due to this, one of the thieves was arrested, but the other person involved managed to run away.
The victim, Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Hoshiarpur, had come to Jalandhar to purchase medicines for his ailing brother-in-law. After arriving at the bus stand, he boarded an e-rickshaw to reach his destination.
During the journey, one of the two men already seated in the e-rickshaw, identified as Lucky, allegedly attempted to pick Kuldeep Singh’s pocket multiple times. On the third attempt, Lucky managed to take Rs 1,700 and reportedly hid the money under the seat cushion.
However, Kuldeep Singh noticed the suspicious activity and immediately raised an alarm. Hearing the commotion, passersby gathered at the spot and informed the police. A PCR team soon arrived and apprehended the accused, while his accomplice fled the scene.
During preliminary interrogation, Lucky reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he is addicted to drugs. The police recovered the stolen money and have launched a search to nab the absconding accomplice.
Police officials stated that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
