By having added Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in the list, Canada now has 88 entities listed as terrorist groups under the Canadian Law.

A well known Lawrence Bishnoi Gang on Monday has been listed as a terrorist entity under its Criminal code. Such an announcement was made in Ottawa by Public Safety Minister, Gary Anandasangaree.
This inclusion has been made citing Bishnoi gang’s violent activities, intimidation tactics and threats to the members of India diaspora. The Public Safety Minister, Anandasangaree highlighted that the decision made would serve as a powerful tool to curb the gang activities.
And, the authorities have stated that such a move reflects Ottawa’s commitment towards tackling threats. As well, it will provide support in ensuring public safety and security.
By having added Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in the list, Canada now has 88 entities listed as terrorist groups under the Canadian Law.
While announcing the inclusion, the Minister Anadasangaree demonstrated that the decision made evidently highlights that Canada will not tolerate terror based crimes. In accordance with the authority’s decision, as per the Canadian Law:
- All the assets – be it property, vehicles which are connected to the Bishnoi gang can be seized.
- And, in case, anyone in Canada or Canadians abroad helping the gang including or providing any funds, services or resources will be considered as a criminal offence.
Continuing his words, the Public Safety Minister mentioned that the Bishnoi gang has harmed and targeted communities, cultural figures or business and individuals, and has the charges of murders, shootings, and extortion.
And the decision taken has been made for protecting the Canadians from all such. Lawrence Bishnoi Gang started from India, has now become a global crime group. Canadian Officials state that listing the gang will support border and immigration officers block members from entering the country.
It as well will provide more power to Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), will prevent and disrupt terrorism-related crimes.
