Pakistan ‘Ready for Two-Front War,’ Says Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

His comments followed soon after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attributed a recent terrorist attack in Pakistan to groups reportedly “backed by India.”

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has ignited debate with a bold remark, claiming that his nation is “completely ready” to engage in a two-front conflict, facing India on the eastern border and the Taliban on the western side.

Addressing a public event, Asif announced, “We are prepared for conflict on two fronts.” We are ready to confront India to the east and Afghanistan to the west. Allah helped us in the first round, and He will assist us in the second.

His comments followed soon after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attributed a recent terrorist attack in Pakistan to groups reportedly “backed by India.” Conversely, Asif indicated that the Afghan Taliban had communicated a warning via the bombing.

“The leaders in Kabul have the power to halt terrorism in Pakistan, but transferring this conflict to Islamabad serves as a message from Kabul.” “Thank God, Pakistan has the complete capability to react,” Asif wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Defense Minister’s comments are interpreted as a way of displaying military strength when Pakistan’s economy is deteriorating and diplomatic ties with both India and Afghanistan are getting worse. His remarks have caused apprehension that may further complicate instability in the region when Pakistan has internal security issues and financial problems.
