Gangster Dony Bal Claims Responsibility for Killing Rana Balachauria

Balachauria was shot in the head at close range when the assailants approached him while pretending to be fans asking for selfies.

Hours after Kabaddi coach and promoter Rana Balachauria was killed by unidentified attackers during a live Kabaddi event, gangster Dony Bal took responsibility for the incident in a Facebook post under the name Gopi Ghanshyampuria. 

“I, Donibal, Saganpreet, Mohabbat Randhawa, Amar Khabe, Prabh Daswal, and Kaushal Chaudhary, admit liability for the murder of Rana Balachauria at the Kabaddi Cup in Mohali today.”

“This individual (Rana) had connections with our competitors Jaggu and Lawrence,” the post stated.

It also stated, “He offered refuge to the murderer of Sidhu Moosewala and took care of him personally.” By eliminating Rana today, we have avenged our brother Sidhu Moosewala’s murder. 

“Our brothers Makhan Amritsar and Defaulter Karan executed this act.”

Balachauria was shot in the head at close range when the assailants approached him while pretending to be fans asking for selfies.

Witnesses say that the perpetrators fired 12 shots, leading to chaos on the scene at Sector 82 where the match was taking place. Mr. Kanwar Digvijay Singh was taken to Fortis Hospital in seriously injured state and was later declared dead upon arrival. 

“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Mr. Kanwar Digvijay Singh, a 30-year-old player in the game of Kabaddi, who arrived at Fortis Hospital Mohali at 6:05 PM on 15 December 2025 with multiple gunshot wounds.”

“Although an immediate clinical evaluation was performed, the official medical statement indicated he was declared dead on arrival.”

Opposition criticizes AAP administration

In the meantime, the opposition has launched a fierce criticism of the AAP government regarding the declining law and order situation in the state.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of Shiromani Akali Dal, blamed the AAP government for the ruthless murder of Rana Balachauria and criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not preventing these events and exacerbating the state’s law and order issues.
