In a surprising turn of events, at least twelve thieves entered a jewellery store in Jalandhar and executed a robbery late Sunday night. The event occurred at Babbar Jewellers in Jalandhar’s Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, situated on Street Number 6.
CCTV footage of the theft shows 12 to 13 individuals forcing open the shutter of Babbar Jewellers and entering the store. All the thieves had masked their faces. Another video shows the thieves escaping the scene with stolen jewelry in a bag and bedsheet.
The heist was executed in merely 10 minutes. A shop owner told the media that as much as Rs 80 lakh worth of jewellery has been taken. In the morning, they learned of the robbery and quickly contacted PCR and the SHO of Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar.
The police have promised them that the burglars will be apprehended shortly and all the jewelry will be retrieved. “I received a call at about 3:25 am informing me that Babbar ji, the shutter of your shop is damaged and the whole shop has been looted.”
After that, I watched the CCTV video. We then named it PCR, SHO Basti Bawa Khel. Law enforcement authorities subsequently arrived at the location. “Between 12 and 13 individuals were captured on CCTV.”
Inside a drawer, there was 20-25 kg of silver valued at approximately Rs 70-80 lakh and 4-5 tolas of gold. They seized all possessions. A total of Rs 70-80 lakh in gold and silver has been taken.
